Fernando Castro is a PhD student in the Materials Science and Engineering department at Northwestern University. His background in chemistry and interest in nanotechnology inspired him to study new materials for lithium ion batteries.
Fernando's time in grad school helped him realize he likes talking science with people who aren't scientists. He hopes that it's part of his job description in whatever career he ends up in after his PhD.
As a Chicago native, Fernando can be found eating deep-dish pizza across the city, but never Lou Malnati's. He also loves going to rap concerts, playing video games, and cooking at home with his girlfriend.
