Jamie is a fourth-year Ph.D. student and NSF Graduate Research Fellow studying climate during interglacial periods in the Arctic. Her research uses information preserved in lake cores from Greenland to examine past environmental response during recent geologic periods that were warmer than today. This work provides insight into the potential sensitivity of parts of the Arctic to ongoing and future warming. Along with research, she pursues opportunities to work with the Medill School of Journalism on science writing and communication. Outside of research, she enjoys running, bluegrass music, and backpacking in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
