Hannah Gavin is a scientist interested in exploring questions at the intersections of microbiology, food/digestive health, and sustainability. She is currently pursuing her PhD in the Department of Microbiology-Immunology at Northwestern University studying pathogenesis of the marine bacterium Vibrio vulnificus during gastrointestinal infection. Her project doesn’t leave her very inclined to eat raw oysters, but she loves to prepare and consume almost any other type of food. When not science-ing or cooking/eating, she can be found playing fiddle tunes and spending as much time outdoors as the Chicago weather allows.
