Lakshmi Chandrasekaran

Graduate Student

Lakshmi Chandrasekaran completed her Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. As an academic researcher, Lakshmi has worked at the interface of mathematics and neuroscience in the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and at Stowers Institute for Medical Research, Kansas City.

Her work has involved using mathematical models to understand the complex dynamics of neuronal networks in the brain. Lakshmi is committed to effectively disseminating science to a broad audience that includes the general public, policymakers and the scientific community to foster a greater appreciation for the subject.

Lakshmi is currently completing her Masters in Journalism with a Health & Science Writing concentration at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism. She also freelances as a science writer and editor for "The Munich Eye", an online newspaper based in Munich, Germany, where she reports on diverse health, environment, and science topics.
