Robert Pennock is a professor of history and philosophy of science at Michigan State University. He has directed faculty workshops on research ethics, evolution and the nature of science. Pennock is the author of Tower of Babel: The Evidence against the New Creationism, which critiques attacks by advocates of “creation-science” and “intelligent design theory” upon the evidential basis of evolution. Tower of Babel was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award and has been reviewed in over fifty publications. Most recently, Pennock was an expert witness in the Kitzmiller v. Dover School Board case, which ruled that teaching intelligent design in public school science classes is unconstitutional. His scientific research on experimental evolution and evolutionary computation has been featured in many magazines, including a 2005 cover story in Discover magazine.
