Russell Snapp

When I first looked at my photograph, I thought it would be cool to draw something intertwined in the grid-like structure. I began thinking of what would look cool twisted around the bars, and came up with snakes. I began my piece by applying a thick layer of gesso in the shape I wanted the snakes to be in. Once the gesso was dry, I used India ink and a pen to shade the gesso and give the snakes more texture. Once the snakes were done, I felt like something was missing. I added the person walking along the grid, finishing the piece.
